Invitation
Following the collaborative efforts between Romania and Norway in monitoring wet snow with EO data, we are aiming to extend this project to include additional countries. This extension will focus on the critical tasks of validating and calibrating algorithms to suit the specific environmental conditions of different regions. We are seeking the participation of institutions and governmental bodies interested in contributing to this scientific endeavor. More specific:
- We are inviting participation from governmental bodies and institutions involved in environmental management, specifically those focused on avalanche risk assessment, flood management, and agriculture/drought resilience.
- Academic and research institutions with expertise in meteorology, climate science, remote sensing, and related fields are encouraged to join.
- Private sector entities with a focus on environmental data, climate adaptation strategies, and technological solutions are also valuable potential partners.
Future project scope and objectives
- The project's central activity is the calibration and validation of algorithms for wet snow monitoring, tailored to specific geographical and climatic conditions.
- Participants will have access to developed EO data, services, and products, and will play a role in adapting these tools for global application.
- Our aim is to form a collaborative network of international expertise in environmental monitoring and climate research, enhancing our collective understanding and management of snow-related phenomena.
Engagement and funding considerations
- Interested organizations are invited to express their interest by filling out the brief online form below, providing insights into their capabilities and potential contributions to the project.
- It is to be noted that the continuation of this project requires collaborative efforts in securing necessary funding. We seek partners who are committed to working together to identify and obtain financial support for these activities.
